Its your lucky day … we’re selling our beloved Expanda
We are reluctantly selling our beloved 2014 20.63.1 Jayco Expanda 2014 16.49.1 Outback, reluctantly because we truly love our caravan. Our Panda has been central to the happiest and most memorable times of our lives, it’s our family’s happy place and 95% of our leisure/holiday time has been not too far from our beloved Panda.
So …. why sell then?? All things come to an end at some point and we’ve reached a juncture where many things in our day are signalling it’s the right time. Only one of our 3 kids is still at home and he’s all but outgrown both camping and his parents. We have a major building project commencing shortly that will kerb anything more than the odd weekend or so away. The second-hand market is pretty buoyant and our van is in great condition. With many caravan manufacturers order delays at 12 to 18mths that slides in comfortably with our 12 to 18 month building commitment.
In 12 to 18 mths we are hoping to have a new replacement van a little more suited for just the two of us. The Panda is our third Jayco and we haven’t been without a caravan for over more than 30 years … we are long term committed caravaners. The Panda will be incredibly difficult for us to loose, and equally difficult to replace. Parting with a caravan that fits us like a glove, while being both underwhelmed by what’s on offer in the new market and overwhelmed by the $100k plus price tags is an interesting position to be in.
Our Panda is chock full of an infectious mojo, and it’s also chock full of every possible feature to comfortably tackle both on and off-grid adventures …. (although she’s tilted toward and does prefer off-grid)
We ordered the van and had it built for us with every addon available at the time. We’d been avid caravaning/camping travelers and knew what we wanted. Any necessary accessories Jayco didn’t supply were promptly added shortly after delivery.
If you’re after a 20ft Jayco Expanda Outback, then this is the one you’ve been waiting for. All the Jayco factory “kinks” have been well and truly worked out and it’s been subtly and sympathetically modified to suit our way of camping. All of the modifications have been done by experienced professionals, and each and every one of them is in keeping with the original delivered appearance of the caravan. You certainly won’t find any ‘backyard’ or half-arsed eyesores here, including spice racks made from framing pine, only quality and thoughtful practical additions
We’re very confident this van is incredibly unique, and you will not find one like it elsewhere. Even if you don’t buy our caravan and that’s ok (although I think you will buy it) we’d offer you an invitation to take a look anyway. It will be well worth a visit, a chat and an inspection because our Expanda will well and truly set the standard for your search.
Buying a caravan is a very expensive, daunting, and emotional purchase. If our van has sparked an interest and might fit your brief I’ll give you the right royal tour warts and all. I would prefer our van to head away with a family that will get as much joy from our Panda as we did. There’ll be no hard sell. The best purchasing tip I can offer with whatever caravan you look at is to encourage you to take along with you your most whinging, nitpicking friend. We’ve all got one. You’ll be overwhelmed and likely miss key points, hopefully he wont.
Our approaching building project, kids independence and 12 to 18mth new van delays will be your gain.
