CUT
The cut of a diamond is
extremely important in determining how well light is reflected through
it and shouldn’t be confused with the shape of a diamond.
The most brilliant and dazzling diamond, apart from being of good
colour and clarity, is always a well-cut stone.
Most diamonds are cut
with a full 58 facets and reflect light from one facet to another and
then back through the top of the diamond to the observer.
Diamonds that are cut too deeply or too shallow loose their
brilliance and can appear dark through their centre.
The skill of the Master Diamond Cutter is therefore paramount in
obtaining the perfectly cut stone that exudes reflected light back to
your eye in all its dazzling brilliance.
The table below shows
how light is reflected through different cut diamonds.
