Getting
out and about on the Gold Coast |
There are a number of options for getting
around the Gold Coast and surrounds. Gold Coast Tourists Shuttles
in conjunction with Surfside Buslines provide a cost effective and
comprehensive service which includes airport transfers, theme parks,
major shopping complex's, Jupiters Casino and the Carrara Market
along with many other locations along the coast. Gold Coast Tourist
Shuttles provide a "Pass" systems purchased in 3, 5, 7,
10, and 14 day blocks which allows unlimited travel on the Shuttle
and Surfside routes.
Surfside Buses is the Queensland Government's public transport
provider, and forms the basis of the public transport system accross
the gold coast. The system is extensive, cost effective and easy
to use. Surfside is an efficient stand alone service, which is only
complimented by the Pass system of Gold Coast Tourist Shuttles.
The Pass is not required to simply hop on a bus to get around.
The Gold Coast Tourist Shuttles Pass's come in 2 varieties which
reflect whether your arrival on the coast is via Coolangatta Airport
or otherwise, such as via Brisbane airport. The Freedom Pass includes
Coolangatta airport transfers and the cheaper Gold Pass has no airport
transfer option and is better suited to travellers not requiring
those transfers.
The Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle web site is worth a visit as is
the Queenland Govt transport web site, TRANSLink. From the TRANSLink
web site the Surfside Buslines routes and timetables can be downloaded
in advance of travel. Below are listed the Surfside Buslines routes
from the website that are invaluable in planning your transport
around the Gold Coast.
Coachtrans Australia also provides a similar service to Gold Coast
Tourist Shuttles with transfers, use of Surfside Buslines and coach
transfers to the theme parks. |
Each of the the sample bus routes below are linked directly
from TRANSLink QLD. Open the TRANSLink web page link for the full compehensive list.
Pre-printing a copy of the Surfide Bus Network Map below
before arrival would prove invaluable as a color coded guide to
route numbers and destinations of the service across the coast. A map and timetable is also displayed at each bus stop

In the mountains behind the Gold Coast area are some of the most
spectacular rainforests, including the World Heritage

Mountains and Springbrook National Park with the impressive natural
arch. The area is dotted with villages and is a pleasant area
to explore via rental car, or with a number of the guided tours
