    Caravan Parks; the Theatre

The Sydney Opera House, caravan parks and boat ramps all have one important thing in common; they are all awesome theatres where we can spend hours of  quality time in the audience watching the show.   The quality of the production varies somewhat dependant on the venue.   What we all want to see in the caravan park is the arrival of Mr and Mrs Grump and their complete lack of idea and tolerance of each other.   A good argument and dummy spit makes the ticket price worth every cent. Im no reversing expert and Im not about to impart my shallow wisdom but we have a system that works very well…

Don’t Blame Us. Interesting info we’ve come across

Travelling, interacting with other travellers and reading the adventures of like minded folk we often come across titbits and the like from sources other than our own personal experience.   Some of this transfer of knowledge is potentially worthy of passing on.   We thought long and hard about pumping up our own tyres and just claiming other peoples ideas as our own, but thought better of it when it suddenly dawned on us that these ideas might not actually work. So its with a healthy dose of All Care, But No Responsibility that we add the following How To Handle A Tyre Blowout This wasnt something I was aware of, and…

    Camac Door Clips

Camec are a common caravan door brand.   The outer door has 3 clips which when closed clip into the 3 corresponding receivers on the inner screen security door. The clips are quite fragile, deteriorate over time and are also easily damaged by exuberant closing or slamming in the wind.   Owning a Jayco provides the additional issue of the door on most vans opening with the wind whilst towing, where all 3 clips are particularly important to secure the door against the air pressure. The upper and lower clips are the same, and the central clip differing in design.   We’ve broken 4 clips and after the first breakage we were forced…

    It’s the little things …

Some of the little things we do to make our nomadic lifestyle easier and our chores more predictable. It all starts for us with routine and predictability.   We (read Ross) finds that routine and predictability is king for our (his) nomadic long term travels.   We have routines, systems, patterns, procedures, controls, responsibilities and above all else precious little tolerance for non conformance … and that suit us (again, read Ross).   On a serious note routine ensures every thing is onboard and secured.  One person cant do everything all the time, and we don’t want to discover 6 hours and 500km down the highway that no-one put the milk away or…

Repairing Scratched or Damaged Acrylic Windows

Caravan windows are made from acrylic, and whilst acrylic is a robust material its kryptonite is its susceptibility to scratching.   Just washing the van with a broom will leave fine marks over the windows and sometimes just looking at them with an angry face seems to scratch them. Traveling about in our relentless quest for caravaning Nirvana, we tend to squeeze the Behemoth into places which are often far to small for it, and as a result our windows do cop a bit of a flogging.   I needed a simple cost effective and doable remedy to make those window shine again, short of replacing them with new windows. Researching the…
